Greater London Investment Fund (GLIF)

This fund is aimed at growing SMEs with a viable business expansion proposal unable to obtain part or all of their debt funding requirement from the private sector, due to lack of collateral or track record. Through this fund, we are now an accredited lender under the Government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS). We are now able to provide CBILS-backed term loans from £100k to 250k as part of GLIF term loan facilities up to a maximum of £1m.

Key Features

Greater London Investment Fund growth loans from £100,000 – £1,000,000.

Loans are available over 3-5 years; bespoke repayment profiles will be considered.

Security, interest and fees will be individually tailored and reflective of the Funds risk appetite.

Debentures will be taken but may be subordinated, partial personal guarantees maybe required.

Eligibility

To apply to the Fund, the business must*:

Be an SME established as a limited company.

Have a material part of its operations based in Greater London.

Have a viable business plan and compelling commercial potential.

Funds can be used for expansion-related activities that will deliver substantial growth impact within Greater London, including:

  • Sales & marketing activity, Hiring new staff, New product development, Entering new markets, Exporting Abroad, Purchasing New Equipment

*Other eligibility conditions exist, reflective of the requirements of the Fund stakeholders. In particular, restrictions apply which prohibit support to a business defined as “undertaking in difficulty” Please speak with a Fund Manager who will be able to guide you as to any eligibility factors which may affect our ability to consider loan support.

Key Features (CBILS)

Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) loans from £100k – £250k*

Loans are typically 1-3 years, bespoke repayment profiles will be considered.

Interest rates 9% fixed p/a with first 12 months met by the UK Government via the CBILS scheme.

Arrangement fee of 1.5% which will also be covered by the UK Government via the CBILS scheme.

Debenture Security will be taken. No personal guarantees will be required for CBILS loans up to £250k.

*The maximum CBILS loan amount available via the Fund has been established by the Fund Manager in the context of the expected use of CBILS loans (as detailed in this website) and the desire to offer the limited CBILS capacity across a number of SMEs. Other CBILS lenders may offer larger amounts. Minimum CBILS loan amounts reflects minimum loan requirements of the fund.

Additional Eligibility (CBILS)

To be eligible for a facility under CBILS, a business must meet all usual Fund eligibility criteria and additionally:

  • Self-certify that it has been adversely impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

 

  • Have a borrowing proposal which we as Lender can consider to be viable (allowing for near-term impact of COVID-19)

 

  • CBILS loan funds can be used for supporting fresh commitment to maintaining and / or adapting resources which are key to the resilience of the business in servicing existing activities/clients during the temporary disruption of COVID-19.

 

  • Please note that decision on any funding offer or applicable use of CBILS loan (or other Fund loan) monies is at the discretion of the Fund Manager. Eligibility does not imply approval.
