Head of Funds East
Stuart manages the business in the East of England from the Ipswich office. He undertakes all stages of the transaction from deal origination, assessment and post drawdown management.
Stuart joined FSE Group in August 2009 to establish the Ipswich office after a successful career with NatWest. He joined NatWest in 1981 as a graduate from the University of Nottingham. His career with the Bank was always in the SME lending sector with roles as a relationship manager to SME portfolios in Essex and East London and credit sanctioning roles within regional and head office environments.
He joined the Technology Sector Group (TSG) in 1996, moving to the role of Head of TSG in 2000, and has developed a detailed understanding of the issues facing growth orientated businesses, especially in the technology sector.
Stuart was seconded to the UK Trade & Investment Global Entrepreneur Programme for a period of 2 years from July 2006 and moved from the Bank to lead this Programme in 2008. The GEP focused on assisting the management teams of high growth technology businesses move from overseas to the UK to establish their global HQs here. Stuart was responsible for sourcing key funding lines, introducing professional service providers and assisting with market entry.
He has extensive networks across a range of funders ā grant providers, business angels, VCās and banks ā and amongst key professional service providers ā accountants, lawyers, executive recruitment agencies and intellectual property
Outside of work Stuart is a Qualified Cricket Coach at regional level (still playing when required) and an active golfer.
