Attracting a mix of public and private investment, The FSE Group provides a range of finance solutions that can be tailored to the needs of high growth SMEs. FSE Fund Managers Limited, which is part of The FSE Group and regulated by the FCA, manages a number of early stage equity funds aimed at high growth, market-disrupting companies, principally in the technology sector. Delivering equity investments between £50,000 and £250,000, our specialist Fund Managers combine their commercial track record with impact objectives to recognise and nurture true growth potential.

Due to recent contract wins we are seeking an experienced equity Fund Manager. Whilst based in our Camberley office, the candidate should have their own transport to cover Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. The Fund Manager will work as part of the team to create pipeline, negotiate & structure deals and manage early-stage equity investments

As a Fund Manager within our equity team your principal responsibilities will be:

  • assessing funding applications for investment suitability
  • meeting potential client management/advisers and conducting due diligence
  • preparing proposals to the Fund’s Investment Committee
  • negotiating approved proposals through Term Sheet to final documentation stages
  • attending Investment Committee meetings to present cases and/or keep minutes
  • representing the fund as observer on investee company boards
  • preparation of reports for investors and supervisory bodies
  • driving pipeline generation and general marketing
  • supporting new business development tasks including building fund models
  • administration of the funds activities in various aspects including responding to enquiries

Ideal candidates should possess the following key skills/attributes:

  • FCA approval (CF30), or have the capability to obtain this
  • at least 2 years of equity investment experience including post-investment monitoring, board experience and a demonstrable ability to lead on all stages of a deal
  • a strong interest in early stage investments which are frequently, but not exclusively, in the technology sector
  • network connections in the VC community and business community, ideally in the South East region
  • highly motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure to deadlines when necessary
  • IT literate, numerate, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • exposure to/knowledge of key industry sectors which may include TMT, healthcare, education, cleantech etc (preferable)
  • educated to university degree level, preferably with an MBA and/or accountancy and/or law qualification
  • understanding of bank finance preferable
  • business experience from a non-VC environment preferable
  • car driver
